Retail News: CORRE Now Open in Seattle
If you’re looking for a fashion adventure in the city, take a trip to Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood to visit CORRE. Carrying a wide range of innovative local designers and global brands, CORRE is the epitome of independent retail and offers a unique shopping experience for design-savvy fashion fans. Founded by Shadia K’David and Luis G. Vélez in the fall of 2020, the storefront draws inspiration from the founders’ shared Colombian heritage and seeks to showcase a mix of fashion-forward brands, including those with Latin American roots.
“To us, “CORRE” is synonymous with energy, forward movement, and the fluid grace with which boundaries and barriers are hurdled. It is a culmination of our Latino heritage and our business ideals,” says Vélez.
Vélez brings a great love and deep understanding of footwear to CORRE. His brand, Guillermo Bravo, is a gender-neutral sneaker and apparel brand informed by a commitment to modern shapes that aren’t constricted by gender binaries. His CORRE co-founder, Shadia K’David brings 18 years of experience in international business and economic development to the brand, specializing in growing small businesses with a focus on social and environmental sustainability. In 2009, K’David took the reins at Salua Lingerie, working to build a solid community and steady annual growth. “CORRE is the expression of building a dynamic space where footwear, fashion, and community can intersect and thrive,” says K’David.
CORRE aims to be more than a typical shopping experience. The space is designed to surprise and delight guests with exclusive brands, exceptional hospitality, and even special events like Friday night happy hour, where shoppers receive “Happy Hour” pricing on shoes and drinks. “We’re also excited to be a place where local chefs and designers can host pop-ups and engage with the community,” adds Vélez.
